Cost of Azoospermia Treatment in India

Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome (SCOS) is one of the more difficult causes of male infertility. It is usually associated with non-obstructive azoospermia, meaning that no sperm are found in the semen because sperm production in the testes is severely impaired. The condition is generally diagnosed through testicular biopsy, although the complete fertility evaluation may also include hormone testing, genetic investigations and other assessments.
At Welling Homeopathy, we have been working with difficult male infertility cases for more than 24 years. Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome is one of the conditions we have specifically encountered in our fertility practice. Over the years, we have fine-tuned our treatment approach based on our clinical experience with these difficult cases, rather than simply applying a standard Homeopathy protocol used for ordinary male infertility.
We have seen positive results in men with Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome, including cases where sperm production was subsequently detected and natural conception was achieved. However, SCOS is a complex condition and every case is different. We cannot guarantee that every patient will respond or that sperm production will return.
Our aim is therefore not to promise a 100% result. It is to carefully study the individual case, understand the available reports and previous treatment, and determine whether the patient may be suitable for our specialised treatment approach.
If you have been diagnosed with Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome, bring your biopsy, semen analysis, hormone and genetic reports to our specialists. We will assess your case and tell you honestly whether we can help with Homeopathy Assisted Reproduction Therapy (HART).

Can Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome Be Treated?

Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome can be a challenging condition to manage because sperm production may be severely reduced or absent. However, SCOS is not necessarily identical in every man.
In some men, the biopsy may show Sertoli cells without identifiable germ cells in the sampled tissue. In other cases, areas of the testes may contain focal or residual sperm production. This variation is one reason why the prognosis can be different from one patient to another.
At Welling Homeopathy, we have treated selected cases of Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome and have observed positive results in some patients. Our approach has been developed and refined through more than two decades of clinical experience with difficult male infertility cases.
We do not tell every patient that treatment will work. SCOS is difficult to treat, and there is no 100% guarantee of sperm recovery or natural conception.
The purpose of the consultation is to determine whether your individual case is suitable for our treatment approach.

What Is Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome?

Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome is a testicular condition in which the seminiferous tubules contain Sertoli cells but no, or very few, identifiable germ cells responsible for sperm production in the tissue examined.
Sertoli cells normally have an important supporting role in sperm development. They provide structural and nutritional support to developing germ cells within the seminiferous tubules.
When germ cells are absent or severely reduced, normal sperm production can be significantly impaired.
SCOS is also sometimes referred to as Sertoli Cell-Only Pattern or Germ Cell Aplasia, although terminology can vary depending on the pathology report and clinical context.

Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome and Azoospermia

Azoospermia means that no sperm are detected in the semen.
Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome is one possible cause of non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA). In obstructive azoospermia, sperm may be produced normally but cannot reach the semen because of a blockage. In non-obstructive azoospermia, the problem is related to sperm production within the testes.
This distinction is extremely important.
A man diagnosed with azoospermia should therefore not assume that the problem is automatically Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome. A complete evaluation is needed to determine the likely cause.

Pure and Mixed Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome

Not every biopsy showing Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome necessarily means that sperm production is absent from every part of both testes.

Pure Sertoli Cell-Only Pattern

In a more extensive or complete Sertoli Cell-Only pattern, germ cells may not be identified in the sampled seminiferous tubules.
This can make treatment and sperm recovery particularly difficult.

Mixed or Focal Pattern

Some men may have areas showing Sertoli Cell-Only changes while other areas contain different stages of sperm development.
This is sometimes described as a mixed or focal pattern.
It is one reason why the interpretation of a biopsy needs to be considered together with the man’s complete clinical picture rather than viewed in isolation.

Why Is Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome Difficult to Treat?

There are several reasons why SCOS can be particularly difficult.
The amount of functioning sperm-producing tissue can vary considerably between patients. The underlying cause may also differ.
Possible factors include:

  • Genetic abnormalities
  • Y-chromosome microdeletions
  • Klinefelter syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities
  • Previous testicular injury
  • Infections or inflammation
  • Exposure to certain medications or toxins
  • Previous chemotherapy or radiation
  • Testicular developmental problems
  • Other causes of impaired sperm production
In some men, the underlying cause cannot be clearly identified.
This is why one treatment cannot be expected to produce the same result in every patient with SCOS.

Our 24 Years of Experience With Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome

At Welling Homeopathy, our experience with male infertility goes beyond treating a routine low sperm count.
Over the last 24 years, we have worked with men presenting with some of the more difficult forms of male infertility, including azoospermia and Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome.
Our treatment approach has been fine-tuned over these years through our clinical experience with individual cases.
We do not simply apply the same Homeopathy prescription to every man diagnosed with SCOS.
Instead, we study the complete case and consider:

  • The testicular biopsy report
  • Semen analysis
  • FSH, LH and testosterone levels
  • Genetic investigations
  • Testicular ultrasound, where available
  • Previous TESE or micro-TESE results
  • Previous IVF or ICSI treatment
  • Previous medicines and treatments
  • The patient’s overall health and fertility history
The objective is to understand the individual case before deciding whether our treatment approach may be appropriate.

Our Specialised Homeopathic Approach

Why Is Our Approach Different From Regular Homeopathy?

Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome is not a condition where we believe a generalised Homeopathy prescription is appropriate.
Our fertility treatment has been developed specifically around the complex nature of infertility cases we see in our practice.
The treatment is individualised for each patient based on the complete clinical history and available investigations.
We have continued to refine this approach through our experience treating difficult male infertility cases over more than two decades.

What Are We Trying to Achieve?

The objective of our treatment is to support the possibility of improved or renewed sperm production in suitable cases.
We have seen positive outcomes in selected patients. However, it is important to understand that this does not mean that every man with SCOS will recover sperm production.
Some cases are extremely difficult.
We therefore do not make a blanket promise of success.

Can Sperm Production Return in Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome?

This is one of the most important questions patients ask after receiving their biopsy report.
The answer is that it depends on the individual case.
Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome can range from a pattern involving extensive absence of germ cells to situations where focal areas of sperm production may still exist.
Some men may therefore have a different prognosis from others.
At Welling Homeopathy, we have observed sperm production becoming detectable in selected patients following treatment.
Where sperm production becomes sufficient, natural conception may be possible in some cases.
However, we cannot guarantee sperm recovery.
The purpose of treatment is to explore this possibility in suitable patients rather than promise an outcome that cannot be guaranteed.

Can a Man With Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome Father a Child?

Yes, biological fatherhood may be possible in some men with Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome, depending on whether viable sperm can be found or produced and the individual circumstances of the couple.
Some couples may explore sperm-retrieval procedures and assisted reproduction such as IVF with ICSI. Other couples may want to explore whether sperm production and natural conception can be improved before considering assisted reproduction.
At Welling Homeopathy, we have seen selected SCOS patients achieve natural conception following treatment.
These are individual outcomes and should not be interpreted as a guarantee for every patient.

Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome and IVF or ICSI

IVF and ICSI remain important fertility options for couples affected by severe male infertility.
In selected men with non-obstructive azoospermia, procedures such as micro-TESE may be considered to look for sperm within the testicular tissue for use with ICSI.
However, sperm retrieval is not successful in every patient.
If you have already undergone TESE or micro-TESE and sperm were not found, or if you have been advised to consider donor sperm, you may want to discuss your complete case with our specialists before deciding on your next step.
Our role is not to tell every couple to avoid IVF.
Our role is to assess whether there may be an opportunity to explore natural conception in your individual case.

Who Should Consult Us for Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome?

You may consider consulting our fertility specialists if you:

  • Have been diagnosed with Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome
  • Have azoospermia with a biopsy showing Sertoli Cell-Only changes
  • Have very high FSH with severely impaired sperm production
  • Have previously undergone TESE or micro-TESE
  • Have been told that sperm retrieval may not be possible
  • Have already undergone IVF or ICSI without success
  • Have been advised to consider donor sperm
  • Want to explore natural conception before proceeding with another fertility procedure
  • Want another opinion after receiving a difficult fertility diagnosis

What Reports Should You Bring?

If you have already been investigated, please keep your previous reports ready for consultation.
The most useful reports include:

Testicular Biopsy

Your histopathology report is particularly important because it explains what was found within the testicular tissue.

Semen Analysis

Bring all available semen analysis reports, especially if there has been any change in the results over time.

Hormone Tests

FSH, LH and testosterone can provide important information about testicular function.

Genetic Reports

Where performed, bring your karyotype and Y-chromosome microdeletion reports.

Previous Sperm Retrieval Reports

If you have undergone TESE, TESA or micro-TESE, bring the operative and laboratory reports.

Previous IVF or ICSI Reports

If you have already undergone assisted reproduction, previous cycle details can help us understand your fertility history.

What Results Have We Seen?

We have seen positive results in selected cases of Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome, including cases where sperm production was subsequently detected and natural conception was achieved.
Because this is a difficult condition, however, we do not present these results as a guarantee.
Every case is different.
The outcome may depend on the underlying cause, extent of testicular involvement, hormone profile, genetic factors, previous treatments and several other factors.

Why We Do Not Promise 100% Success

We believe it is important to be honest with patients dealing with a difficult fertility diagnosis.
Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome can be severe, and no responsible doctor can promise that sperm production will return in every patient.
Our experience gives us confidence to take on selected difficult cases, but experience does not mean a guaranteed outcome.
That is why we assess every patient individually.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome?

Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome is a testicular condition in which the seminiferous tubules contain Sertoli cells but lack, or have very few, identifiable germ cells in the tissue examined. It can be associated with severe impairment of sperm production and non-obstructive azoospermia.

Is Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome the same as azoospermia?

No. Azoospermia means that no sperm are detected in the semen. SCOS is one possible cause of non-obstructive azoospermia.

Can Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome be treated with Homeopathy?

At Welling Homeopathy, we have treated selected cases of Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome and have observed positive results in some patients. Our treatment approach has been refined over more than 24 years of clinical experience with difficult infertility cases. However, SCOS is a difficult condition and we cannot guarantee sperm recovery or natural conception in every patient.

Can sperm production return after Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome?

In selected cases, sperm production may subsequently become detectable. Our clinic has observed positive outcomes in some SCOS patients. However, the possibility of sperm recovery depends on the individual case and cannot be guaranteed.

Can a man with Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome have a biological child?

Some men with SCOS may be able to father a biological child if viable sperm are available or sperm production can be restored sufficiently for conception or assisted reproduction. The possibility depends on the individual circumstances.

Can Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome be reversed?

There is no single answer for every patient. SCOS can have different underlying causes and different degrees of testicular involvement. At Welling Homeopathy, we have observed positive results in selected cases, but we do not claim that the condition can be reversed in every patient.

Can SCOS patients undergo IVF or ICSI?

Yes. Depending on the individual case, sperm retrieval and IVF with ICSI may be considered. A fertility specialist should evaluate the likelihood of finding usable sperm before treatment.

What if micro-TESE has already failed?

A failed micro-TESE can be extremely distressing, but the next step depends on the individual case. You can share the biopsy, hormone, genetic and sperm-retrieval reports with our specialists for assessment.

Is Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome genetic?

It can be associated with genetic abnormalities, although not every case is genetic. Genetic evaluation may therefore be recommended as part of the investigation of non-obstructive azoospermia.

Does high FSH mean treatment will not work?

High FSH can indicate significant impairment of sperm production, but it should not be interpreted on its own. The complete clinical picture, including the biopsy and other investigations, needs to be considered.

How long does treatment take?

The duration varies according to the individual case. Our treatment is planned according to the patient’s response and clinical circumstances rather than promising a fixed time in which sperm production will return.

Are there any guarantees?

No. We do not guarantee 100% success. Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome is a difficult condition, and outcomes vary between individuals.

Looking for a Natural Alternative Before IVF?

If you have been diagnosed with Sertoli Cell-Only Syndrome and have been told that your chances of natural conception are very low, you may want to explore all available options before making your next decision.
At Welling Homeopathy, we have spent more than 24 years working with difficult fertility cases and have seen positive outcomes in selected men with SCOS.
We cannot promise that every patient will respond.
But if you would like us to assess your case, send us your reports and speak with our fertility specialists.
